For a couple of years, we had a ramblings thread for each day....we had a lot more really active members then and we used to stay up all night filling the pages with photos and discussing kids or grandkids or racing or whatever. Maybe we can use this thread to keep each other up-to-date on what is going on in our lives....like the new pets, or travels or... whatever. We tried a few months ago and the thread fell off the page so here is a new one.

As we all know from my other posts, I'm in Florida for a couple of months and a nice condo on the Gulf Coast beach. Loving it and wishing I could live here all the time.

This evening, my cousin and his wife, who are also here for a couple of months, came up to play cards. They have us hooked on Phase 10 and also the dice game, Farkle. Geeesh!! :P Beginning to be an every evening occurance.

My sister made friends with one of the guys who works here and also works on a fishing boat. Late this evening he brought her some red snapper and grouper. Yummmm...guess what we are having for supper tomorrow?

Otherwise, an exciting day today...did laundry. Oh, well, life goes on.

Well, Carol, I see I am posting one day late. LOL

I am getting a new pet tonight. A new puppy named Nellie. It will be a challenge, but I guess it will be worth it

I have to go to work in a bit, but this is my usual morning stop by to see what all is going on.

Cool that you are in Florida, if you give me the town you are in, I am contiplating coming to Florida, because they are putting my 105 year old grandmother in a nursing home tomorrow, and I really need to see her. She will be in Inverness, my Uncle lives in Ocala.

Well, I better go now. Enough rambling for one day. Bye for now, have a great day.

Can't believe the weather here in Iowa, today it is going to hit 50 degrees, no snow on the ground, truely unbelieveable. Went to return 2 spa pillows to Bed Bath and Beyond last evening, fyi, when buying a gift for someone don't give them the gift receipt give them the store receipt, I was given back 20% less than the pillows were worth because of the gift receipts, I was with my daughter the day she bought these pillows for us she did not have a coupon to use. The store just made money off my daughter. I also found out they don't give money back just store credit, and that wasn't on a gift card but a little piece of register tape, (hoping I would lose it). Thought I would pass this information along, I don't know about you but I will think twice before buying anything from that store again. Now I can do the laundry and clean the floors with my steam cleaner thingie. Patty :)

Keep it moisturized either with lotion or with a very good shampoo, sometimes that helps.

Never too late, Donna and Debbie. LOL

Hope the blood tests all come out normal, Deb.

The puppy will be fun...I hope, Donna. I'm in Panama City Beach now, and will be here till Feb. 22, then moving to Orlando for two weeks. Not sure how close that is to Ocala, will play with the mapping sites and see later this afternoon.

Been hearing about the weather in the Midwest, Patty. Weirdly warm. I hope you don't pay for it with some really bad spring blizzards! I've heard that many stores do that BB&B did to you. If you don't have the regular receipt and only the gift receipt, they will only give back the smallest amount charged for the item. It was nice to be able to give family and friends the gift receipt without announcing how much (or little ;) ) we paid for a gift, but now we will need to keep the receipts or mail them with the gift if it is sent to someone. So, I won't avoid BB&B for home items. I love shopping there!

We are moving things around in the car and packing to get ready to drive to Daytona tomorrow. My BIL will be staying here with our cousin to check up on him and my sis and I will be meeting up with an online friend from the Dale, Jr. Pitboard! I love meeting my friends from the Network and the Pitboard.

It is cloudy and the fog is moving in and out here. May be stormy later today. I hope I can get some pictures of stormy weather!

We just talked to the kid who is house sitting for my sis and her hubby in Duluth. They have had NO snow and Ryan hasn't been able to go snowmobiling at all. He bought a plow attachment for his truck to make extra money and he hasn't been able to use it to make any extra cash.

Just got back from riding in the tractor cab with the hubby, we had to run the air, amazing! He is bringing home all the big round bales he made all summer. There are thousands of them, really, we mix hay in a mixer with gluton from breweries and that turns into feed for our cattle.
I too love to shop BB&Y I have to go back because we are now waiting for a rebate. I got the neatest thing an item that has 3 crockpots all in a row, It was wonderful at Christmas, and my daughter bought me the little pie machine, it really does a nice job, but how many pies can a person eat? It will probably get put in a cupboard with the panni press, and the ninja, except the ninja is a great product but not a daily use thing, I could have a really great garage sale if the kids didn't live so close. If they read this, no not the things you bought me!  Patty

Thanks B will have to see. He does want to add a new pill for my Diabetes to regulate the highs after I eat esp at night better. I wasn't the best over the holidays trying to eat better this new year. I don't want to have to do injections and esp not get to where I have to inject insulin so better start behaving better. Its hard when you are a picky eater like me ;) . I did loose 8 lbs over the 3 Months not sure how.

I hope yours is better next time.

Glad your blood work was ok today, Deb and congrats on losing the pounds. I know how hard that is and know how hard it is to change your diet. Don't give up. I hope you never have to do injections. Ick. Hate needles.

Thank you, B, and I hope your blood work comes back better next time you go to the doc. Is it the calcium again or???

Am getting ready to put the computer into it's traveling case so we can leave tomorrow morning for Daytona. Will keep in touch with the Droid until we get to the room. I have never seen the Atlantic Ocean so it will be fun having a room on the actual East Coast!

Try to stay warm, Patty! Hope you get enough snow so that you don't go into a drought! And enough so you can have some winter sports fun like snowmobiling and such.

Talk to y'all tomorrow evening from the new beach!

Not sure who has diabetes, I was told nearly 5 years ago that I had type 2, I went for nearly 3 years and never had a morning reading over 100, I quit testing, I do notice that I have trouble going low once in awhile, I was on leviquin for an infection at the time of my first blood test, I was told I was a 9 or 10 but when I took it again in 3 months I was a 6.4. I did test but now I just try to watch the carbs, and sugar, I do slip up a lot. Are you a type one?
Carol, we are supose to get only about a trace of snow, that's enough for us, it makes it so hard to feed the cattle when we get a lot of snow. I was raised in Texas, so I really don't like the cold even though I have lived in this climate for nearly 50 years. I still pine for warmer weather. Patty

Have Type 2 Patty. I don't do a good job of managing it need to do better. I don't like a lot of cooked veggies and don't know how to cook all that well makes it hard.

Carol I don't have the blood tests back yet. The Dr just charted my BS readings and esp at night after meal testing it was higher than he liked. Add to that last time my A1C was back to 7 he wanted to add the pill. Will get the results in a couple of days.

What scared me off the medicine was the fact that 2 of the most common ones that were out there 3 years ago have now been recalled do to things like bladder cancer. I take nothing! the nurse from the doctor's office told me when this began that if they lower the numbers anymore we will all have diabetes type 2. I know I should take the medicine but I just hate to start taking pills at age 80 my mother was taking 32 pills a day, I asked her once what pill if you forgot to take would kill you, the doctors had her so scared she would panic if she ever forgot even one pill. I know that I will have to give in one day. Patty, the sugar is probably eating me up right now!

I weighed myself today and discovered that I've lost 118 lbs since last April 1st. Some of you may remember that I had to have surgery last spring because of some internal complications. Needless to say it was a real eye opener in terms of how unhealthy I'd become as a result of my laziness and diet.

Ever since I've lost the weight my life is so much better.

High Blood pressure - gone
Sleep Apnea - gone
High Cholesterol - gone
High Blood sugar - gone
Back pain - gone
FATigue - gone
Low self esteem - gone

Just being able to walk/stand around without pain or getting tired is great. Being able to walk into any store and easily find clothes that fit. bike rides are a breeze as are walks to the park with my dog and kid.

Now if I could get this new beard to stop itching I'd be all set!

I do remember. I know that if I lost the weight I would be doing better. I hope to maybe someday take less pills not more as I don't want to be like my Mom either with pills for so many things.

Why the beard? shave and that would stop the itching, you are a new person, share it with the world! I would be so happy if I could lose 40 lbs, but the husband says I look good to him, but then again his eyesight isn't what it used to be.

I am growing this beard to annoy my wife. I will shave it when she complains about it but she is being stubborn and won't say anything. The beard must go on until she admits she's annoyed.
