My turn now to turn to my JGN family. Please pray for the 1st man I fell in love with- my dad. His heart is giving him problems , he will see the heart specialist on Jan 2. He had a valve replacement over 22 years ago. Tonight Christmas eve he was very weak and not feeling well at all. He is 85 years old and as told us that if he needs another operation he will not have it. He has led a good life but he is still my dad and Iknow I have to give him up some day but I am not ready (call me greedy). Just pray for my dad, thanks Sheila

I am so sad about your dad. I do understand his feelings though, at 85 years old its so hard to bounce back from any type of surgery. Maybe just maybe its as simple as changing or adding a medicine. I will be praying for that. I lost my dad at 77 years, he died on my 50th birthday, he had surgery and died from a stroke shortly after. I was not ready by any means to say goodbye forever to my dad, but my dad had his own say about his medical needs, he had signed a do not resuscitate order and we didn't know. Just love your dad a little bit more daily, we never know what tomorrow brings, but make everyday count with him now. I will have your dad and your family in my prayers. Let us know what the doctors say. Patty

Praying that all goes well for your dad, Sheila. It is difficult to see our parents or especially our children having medical problems. I hope he will do what the doctors recommend.

Dad sent by ambulance to hospital this morning, they think he had a mild heart attack. So he is in ICU, best place for him right now. He seems to be in good spirits.

I'm sorry Sheila, but glad it was mild and he is getting the care he needs. Will continue to pray for him.

I hope your dad gets the care he needs now that the problem is presenting itself. He knew something was wrong, like a self diagnosis. Hope it all works out for him. I will pray for him. Patty

Well dad got out of the hospital new years eve, saw the specialist today. Thinks it is a leaky valve and he might have to have it replaced, they are not sure if there are any blockages. So he will have an ECG and a cardio light scan to determine whether or not an angiogram is required. The ECG is Jan 9 the other probably not for maybe 2 weeks after that. So we wait, but really do I have to give my parents heck in the doctors office for trying to shovel snow behind us kids backs. Like the doctor to both of them it is your kids turn to spoil and do things for you. I told them we don't need to visit both of you in the hospital because you are both being stubborn

The neighbor on the next farm is 90, I found him out on his driveway with a pick ax trying to break up some ice! I said oh Bob, what are you doing, we will bring you some salt for that, he took my head off! I just know we will be fighting for our independence one day too. I guess what I am trying to say is you can try telling them to quit doing that but they aren't gonna listen, its something to do with their feeling like they still can do stuff. Oh you can keep telling them what's good for them but they will just keep on ignoring you and doing just what they want. But don't stop it makes you feel better because you did warn them. Getting old is not easy! I hope all works out for your dad, its not easy making decisions at their age but I am sure you are very helpful to them. Let us know Sheila, this has to be hard on you.
